Overview of the HMR Program
The HMR Program is a comprehensive weight-loss and life-style-change program. Since 1983, more than half a million people have used the HMR program to improve their health through weight management. Members achieve high program compliance through weekly coaching that helps members follow a structured diet to lose weight quickly, while also building healthy habits to maintain weight loss and overall health.
HMR’s highly structured weight-loss plans use a medically supervised Low Calorie Diet comprised of HMR foods (meal replacement shakes, entrees, and bars), plus fruits and vegetables. The meal plan is designed to produce high volume meals and snacks that taste good, prevent hunger, and limit food decisions. This structured approach makes the diet simple to follow, and with the fast weight loss it produces and the skills developed along the way, easier to sustain.
Two phases of the HMR Program
Phase 1: the weight-loss phase - A time-limited focus on losing weight quickly, using HMR’s clinically proven weight-loss plan and supported through dedicated coaching. Members follow a structured, high-volume, lower-calorie diet, using HMR’s full line of foods (with or without fruits and vegetables, depending on diet plan). The structured diet reduces decisions, allowing members to take a break from current food routines to make losing weight easier. Members learn and practice high-volume, lower-calorie strategies to produce filling meals and snacks without needing to count calories.
Phase 2: the healthy lifestyle phase – After weight loss, and with the support of their coaches, members transition to Phase 2. Phase 2 is 100% dedicated to helping people learn the skills to manage and maintain their weight long term. They will be supported to reduce their reliance on meal replacements as they progressively add healthy food options (i.e. lean proteins, whole grains, fruits/vegetables, dairy, and healthy fats) consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
