VO2 simply stands for Volume of Oxygen. We measure the volume of oxygen your body consumes at various intensity levels. The more work you do, the more oxygen your body requires to metabolize the energy needed. Our team of medical professionals, along with our fitness trainers can help you increase the number of calories you burn by creating a nutrition plan and exercise plan that works for you. Your VO2 values as well as your resting metabolic rate will indicate the progress you are making.
What do VO2 values tell us?
VO2 max is the maximum capacity of an individual’s body to transport and use oxygen during incremental exercise. This value reflects the fitness level of the individual. It is one factor that can determine your capacity to perform sustained exercise. Your VO2 measurement is generally considered the best indicator of your cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. Theoretically, the more oxygen that the body can utilize during higher levels exercise, the more ATP (energy) it can produce. Raising your metabolic rate through increased exercise and better diet can improve your quality of life. Our staff will work closely with you on the values obtained from VO2 testing and what the information means to you.
